ABSTRACT

ObjectiveThis paper analyzed the punishment situation of unlicensed medical practice in recent 7 years in Jinshan District of Shanghai, then suggested the countermeasures to prevent and combat unlicensed medical practice in the future. MethodsA total of 190 cases of unlicensed medical practice from 2016 to 2022 were investigated. The basic situation of the punishment, legal basis, subject distribution, clue source and individual characteristics were analyzed. ResultsThe case-filing number of unlicensed medical practice showed a decreasing trend, but the amount of fines increased obviously. The clues of investigation and punishment of unlicensed medicine practice were mainly found by inspection(32.11%) and transferred from other departments(28.42%), while the number of complaints and clues reported from grassroots increased year by year. Medical and dental were the two major unlicensed practice, accounting for 35.79% and 33.16%, respectively. In addition, unlicensed medical cosmetology practice was increasing year by year. 78.62% of the unlicensed medical practioners are immigrants, 62.76% of them aged between 31 and 50 years old, among them 70.34% are men, and 62.76% of them have a fixed place. ConclusionThough the prevention and crack-down on unlicensed medical practice has achieved significant achievements,it is still necessary to enhance the responsibility of local administration, strengthen the inspection, investigate and deal with cases jointly by multiple departments, and implement the comprehensive supervision mechanism of the health care industry.

ABSTRACT

An 81-year-old man with hemangiopericytoma had clinically conspicuous manifestation of a first slowly then rapidly growing, painless, and sublobe-like mass in the left orbit, proptosis, massive bleeding, and underwent orbital exenteration with keeping the eyelids. The tumor reoccurred 21 months after the operation and the patient had prolonged, serious hemorrhage in the left orbit and died of brain metastasis six months later. The etiology and inducement factors were unknown, but it is suspected that the fatal family casualty might be a more important inducement than trauma for this patient

ABSTRACT

MicroRNAs (miRNA), an abundant class of highly conserved small non-coding RNAs, suppress gene expression by binding to the 3' UTR of target mRNAs, which presents an entirely new approach to post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression. MiRNAs have been shown to play key roles in the regulation of diverse biological processes, such as development, inflammation, apoptosis, and tumorigenesis. Several studies have shown the dysregulated miRNAs in various lymphomas including the overexpression of miR-106a and miR-17-92 in T cell lymphoma;upregulated miR-155, miR-221 and miR-21 in diffuse large B-cell iymphoma and follicular cell lymphoma, and these miRNAs associated with subtypes of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma. Overexpression of the miR-17 cluster showed reduced levels of apoptosis, suggesting that the main effect of these miRNAs was to suppress cell death. Although miRNAs can act as both tumour suppressor and oncogenic molecules, the mechanistic explanation for this dysregulation is unclear but maybe linked to the defects in the miRNA biosynthetic machinery. As more evidence accumulates, it is likely that miRNAs will emerge as a new class of epigenetic regulator.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the therapeutic effects of thrombolytic drug infusion via carotid artery on experimental central retinal artery occlusion (CRAO), and observe the changes of fibrinolytic activity in the systemic circulation. Methods To dissolve the thrombi in 15 cats (30 eyes) with CRAO established by laser irradiating a branch of central retinal artery after intravenous injection of photochemical drugs, urokinase (UK) was directly infused via carotid artery in 5 cats (10 eyes) in group A or intravenously injected in 5 cats (10 eyes) in group B, and isotonic saline solution was intravenously injected in 5 cats (10 eyes) in group C respectively. The patency of the artery was evaluated by fundus fluorescein angiography. Moreover, the changes of fibrinolitic activity in the blood were observed by blood biochemical examination. Results Four hours after UK infusion, the complete repatency proportion was 80% (5 cats 8 eys) in group A, and 50% (4 cats 5 eyes) in group B. There was significant difference between the two groups. Besides, after the infusion, the indexes of coagulation, fibrinolysis, and anti-fibrinolysis in group A were better than those in group B and C (P

ABSTRACT

Objectives: To observe the therapeutic effects of collagen corneal shields (CCS) combined with fibronectin (FN) and epidermal growth factor (EGF) on healing of rabbit corneal wound caused by mustard gas, and to look for the new methods, new technology and new medicine to treat the injured cornea before eyelid edema observed in field hospital. Methods: After the left cornea was contaminated with mustard gas, 24 rabbits were equally divided into three groups(groups A, B, C) at random. Groups A,B,C were treated with PBS,CCS and CCS+FN+EGF,respectively. The corneas were stained with fluorescein and photographed 2, 8, 16, 24, 36,72 hours after contamination. The rate of corneal epithelial healing and percentage of damage were calculated. Results:The healing rates of groups A,B and C were (0.879±0.139)mm2/h, (1.223±0.166)mm2/h and (1.543±0.224)mm2/h,respectively and had statistically significant difference(P<0.01). The percentage of damage was 71.6%, 57.3% and 44.8%,respectively and also had statistically significant difference(P<0.01).Conclusions: The treatment with CCS can accelerate the corneal epithelial healing injured by mustard gas and the therapeutic effects will be better if CCS is combined with FN and EGF.

ABSTRACT

Objective To detect and analyse the mutations in rhodopsin gene of members in a family affected by autosomal dominant retinitis pigmentosa (ADRP). Methods Using the polymerase chain reaction (PCR), we amplified exon 1-5 of rhodopsin gene in patients with ADRP,and analyzed it with direct sequence measuement. Results The Gly-182-Asp mutation in the rhodopsin gene was detected in most of affected members of this ADRP family, but no mutation was detected in two affected members and the control ones. Conclusion We cannot regard the Gly-182-Asp mutation in the rhodopsin gene as the pathagenic factor of the ADRP family. It is likely there is a new gene next to the rhodopsin gene.
